The nurses in senior living communities, from assisted living to memory care communities, Independent living or Skilled nursing facilities, play a key role in establishing the comfort, care, and support our residents need to thrive.
Assisted Living communities aim to offer a balance between independence and care, offering support to residents with the Activities of Daily Living, such as dressing, toileting, grooming, and getting around, as well as nursing support, to ensure the very best quality of life.
Removing the stress and worry associated with home nursing services or home care is a major benefit in Assisted Living or senior living communities. Onsite caregivers and nurses offer a more individual healthcare experience, getting to know each resident personally. Building relationships with each of our residents allows us to offer the very best level of care, and form meaningful bonds.
In most cases, nurses in Assisted Living and Memory Care communities are Licensed Vocational Nurses (or LVNs) or sometimes Registered Nurses (RNs) who offer care services to residents to allow them the highest level of independence and dignity.
Nurses in assisted living communities offer medical care to residents as well as assist with activities of daily life and personal care services. In many cases, these nurses will have a specialty or experience in long-term care services covering most day to day needs of residents.
Some of the responsibilities overseen by the community nurses include:
Skilled nursing care is similar, but offers more advanced levels of care, including rehabilitation services and medical assistance with care options similar to those in nursing homes.
Our nurses do a wonderful job of caring for and supporting both residents and their family members. Each new resident will meet with a team, including our care providers, in order to assess and discuss what type of care is needed moving forward. This helps our caregivers best transition you or your loved one into a senior living community, understand the various senior living options, and ensure your needs are met.
Both in the short term and the long, our amazing nurses are onsite to help support and care for residents even as their needs grow or change. Through various programs, partnerships and activities, our nurses strive to not only offer the very best care, but to build systems and structures to continue to support each resident in their day to day life in our community.
The nurses are the heart of our communities in so many ways, providing the support and assistance each resident - and their family - needs to thrive with dignity, compassion and comfort.
Reach out to your local community to learn more about our care options, or come meet our amazing nurses for yourself. We are here to assist you every step of the way.
