Football Season is here, and everyone is getting excited about jumping back into the excitement and fun that comes along with supporting your favorite team. Across our communities, residents of Pacifica Senior Living are getting into the spirit as well. From watch parties to rallies, decorations to festive snacks, there are so many ways to make this football season extra special. Whether you are a fan of the NFL, AFC, college football, or have a favorite men’s or women’s football team, getting extra festive is a great way to turn up the fun on game day.

Supporting a team and cheering along to your favorite sport is a great way to make friends, form connections, and get social. Not only are football days perfect for sports lovers, but the excitement surrounding a new season’s start can pull in new fans and spectators who want to get in on some of the festive fun.

Sport Your Colors:

Wearing your team colors is a simple way to get in the spirit. Whether you support a west coast team like the Los Angeles Chargers, Rams, Niners or Seahawks, or an east coast team like the  Eagles or Patriots, or any team in between, wearing team colors is an easy way to get involved - especially for those newer to the sport.

Fantasy Football:

For those who are really into rankings, standings, stats and numbers, joining a fantasy football league can be a great way to keep the fun going. Pick players in an at-home NFL draft, to create the best possible fantasy team. See if you can make your team hall-of fame worthy, with top picks and rising stars. Each week, you can get together with peers to watch your progress and compare with others.

Football Crafts:

Making crafts and decorations in team colors and swag is a great way to add some extra fun to the football season. Set up a craft event where you can make pennants, flags and banners supporting your team. Flags, garlands and banners are a great way to add color, show support for your team, and spread the festive spirit around the community.

Other fun football crafts include decorating helmets, or making helmet shaped crafts, decorating t-shirts with fabric paint or fabric markers, or coloring your own footballs. You can even make beaded bracelets or necklaces in your team colors to wear on game day for a little added fun. There are so many great options to choose from, from complex crafts to coloring pages.

Game Day Snacks:

Game day food isn’t just for The Super Bowl - you can prepare football themed treats all season long! Whether you opt for football shaped cakes or cookies, a themed cheese ball, or classic snacks like buffalo chicken, chips and dip, cheese poppers, fruit platters or your favorite treat, nothing makes a long day of football better than on-theme snacks.

At-Home Tailgating:

You can bring the fun of tailgating to you, with an in-house tailgating party. Gather friends for fun games like ball-pong, ring toss, football toss or corn hole. Bringing the fun of tailgate games to the community is an easy way to make an event out of the football season. Add snacks, refreshments and friends, and you have all the fun of tailgating right in the community courtyard or common room.

Watch Parties:

Grab your jerseys, dress in your team colors, and gather with friends to watch your team play! Football games are perfect for an excellent way to bond with other fellow fans, whether they support the same team as you or not. Even watching with opposing fans can be a fun way to generate some friendly competition.

Many of our communities are home to die-hard fans who love getting together with other residents to watch the big games. Our communities often host watch parties and gatherings where fans of all teams can get together and enjoy watching their team play.

Our Florida area communities are full of fans supporting local NFL teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers or even the Georgia’s nearby Atlanta Falcons. Of course college football is also popular in the south, and state teams also have strong support.

To the east, the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, and the New York Giants or Jets are well represented, and of course the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, and Texan Dallas Cowboys can’t be forgotten either.

Getting together with others to watch a sport is the best way to get into the spirit of the game, and make each game an event. Cheer for touchdowns, follow your favorite football players, and get ready for playoffs all while making friends with peers.

No matter what team you support, or whether you watch NFL, NCAA, or any other level of sport, football season is a great time to get together and make new friends. At Pacifica, we are always looking for new and exciting ways to bring fun to our resident’s lives. Whether you are a huge football fan, or are just in it for the snacks, fun parties like these are a great excuse to make new friends, form lasting bonds, and add a little extra joy to our resident’s day.
