The Memory Care Program at Pacifica Senior Living provides the highest level of care to loved ones in need of memory, dementia, or Alzheimer’s care. Whether in a Memory Care specific community or one that offers a range of care levels, each of our communities is focused on care and programs that are suited to individuals with memory loss or cognitive impairment. Memory Care at Pacifica Senior Living offers residents quality Alzheimer's Care and Memory Care services in a warm, loving community. We curate customized care plans to strike a balance between assistance and independence so we can offer our residents a dignified and compassionate retirement experience.

Memory Care is almost always a long term care program which caters to those with Alzheimer’s disease or other progressive or degenerative forms of dementia. These individuals need more specialized care than those in Assisted Living facilities, and specifically require assistance that is focused on cognition or behavioral needs rather than just physical aid. These are individuals who will no longer be able to live at home safely, and need secure environments that can help to reduce risks and boost a comfortable and peaceful environment.

Individuals with memory loss tend to find comfort in routine, peace, and familiarity. Because their memories no longer function in the way they once did, it is easier for memory care residents to become confused, disoriented or unsettled. Memory care facilities and memory care communities are designed to eliminate these triggers, offering peace of mind to both residents and their family members.

Memory Care communities have several key features that specifically aid those with memory loss. Because older adults with dementia or other types of cognitive impairment may be at risk of wandering or getting lost, these communities offer additional security measures. Gated courtyards, locked facility doors and other security measures can help prevent disoriented trips outside of the community. Similarly, the design of these homes and communities is usually linear, direct, and repetitive. Rather than winding, maze-like hallways, these buildings feature straight hallways and clear pathways to common areas, dining halls, and the like. This is a simple way that we can facilitate independence while ensuring the security of our residents.

Similarly, caregivers and health care professionals who are trained in and understand dementia care offer additional support to those with memory loss. Often times, these individuals require a certain level of patience and understanding, and it is important that care staff are equipped to assist Memory Care residents in the best way possible. Skilled nursing and senior care workers who specialize in memory care allow a community to create the best possible environment for residents.

All of our Pacifica Senior Living communities focus on offering the best possible quality of life to our residents, regardless of what care options they need. Promoting resident well-being means meeting the care needs of our residents, but also facilitating social interactions, social activities and wellness programs which can enhance their lives and improve their quality of life.

At Pacifica Senior Living, we offer quality care throughout or communities in Independent Living communities, Assisted Living communities, and Memory Care communities. Some of our communities are Memory Care specific, while others offer Assisted Living and Memory Care, with Transitions programs which can help individuals move from one care level to another, as needed. In either case, personal care plans and programs like our Namaste program are available to assist those with memory loss, and offer interactive and social opportunities for all residents.

These programs are a major benefit to community living versus home care options. Not only do communities have staff members and care providers to assist the daily needs of residents, but these on-site programs - like tactile craft classes, games, and interactive cognitive programs are community based benefits which can offer life enriching experiences for residents that they would not have access to if they were in their own home.

Each of our Memory Care communities have a full calendar of activities that are carefully curated to those with memory impairment. We understand the needs of those with memory loss, and have built programs accordingly which are engaging and enriching, without becoming demanding, confusing, or taxing. Our community teams will also get to know each individual - through assessment and conversations with loved ones - to best understand the needs and preferences of our residents on an individual level. Creating a secure, comfortable and peaceful environment is at the heart of our Legacies™ Memory Care homes. We understand the importance of peace of mind, and are here to make the transition to Memory Care as joyful and worry-free as possible for individuals and their families alike.
