At Pacifica Senior Living we strive to build a culture that is accepting, loving and supportive of everyone. Inclusivity and equality are at the heart of what we do, and part of our core values of care. Through the month of June, many of our communities have been celebrating Pride, a time in which we celebrate love in all its forms.

Pride Month, and events like gay pride parades have been held since 1970, which marked the first pride event. This first demonstration was held as a memorial to the one year anniversary of the Stonewall uprising. Pride is a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. It is a time to look back on all the hard-fought progress that has been made for LGBTQIA rights and freedoms, as well as reflect on what changes may still be needed.

What can be better than the unbreakable bond of friendship? Throughout our lives, our friends and peers are there to share with us, lend a hand, offer an ear or advice, or simply spend time together enjoying our favorite activities. June 8th is National Best Friends Day and we want to share some of the stories of best friends in our Pacifica communities.

It can sometimes be difficult to make new friends as we age, but Senior Living communities offer a place where older adults can bond and enjoy activities together. We love seeing the many friendships and life long bonds that form between our residents.

June 6th is the anniversary of D-Day, which marks the day - in 1944 - in which Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy during the World War II Operation Overlord. This effort was the largest seaborne invasion in history, and was a momentous effort which eventually led to the liberation of France.

This is a poignant day for those that fought and served in the war, or who lost loved ones during that time. For many, it is a solemn day of remembrance and a time to pay respect to those who fought for our freedoms.

In celebration of Mother's Day this Sunday May 8th, we reached out to our communities and asked them to share the best advice they could give as a mother, or words of wisdom they once received from their mother.

Mothers come in all different sizes, shapes, types and styles - they wear many different hats, and take on a wide variety of roles both within their family and within their personal lives. Moms often are a source of wisdom, insight, and comfort for their families, and for a lot of us, the words and wisdom our moms pass down can be some of the most life changing.

Playing games is a fun way to spend time, make friends, and engage with others, but they can also play an important role in the aging process. As we get older, it is important to keep our brains engaged and working on both cognitive and problem solving skills. Playing games is a great way to promote healthy brain activity and help stave off memory loss.

At Pacifica Senior Living, our communities have a wide range of weekly games and activities for residents to participate in. Here are some of the top games for seniors to help promote healthy brain activity, strengthen memory skills, and make connections with others.
