Sanibel Beach:
Sanibel Beach is located on the island of Sanibel, along the Western Coast of South Florida, bordering the Gulf of Mexico. It is considered to be one of the best beaches in Florida, and is known for its gorgeous white sands and abundance of shells. It is a wonderful place to go on a day trip from nearby Cape Coral or Fort Myers. Visitors can enjoy the nearly 15 miles of beach front, the local historic lighthouse, and a variety of wildlife and nature walks. -
Manatee Lagoon
The Manatee Lagoon is located in the West Palm Beach area of South Florida. The lagoon is a great destination for visitors of all ages. They have an extensive education center, and beautiful outdoor grounds. During high tides in peak season, wild manatees can be spotted feeding or lounging in the lagoon. The best part? This attraction is completely free so you can enjoy seeing these gentle giants as often as you like. -
Four Freedoms Park
Four Freedoms Park is an outdoor recreation center made up of over 3 acres of land just outside Cape Coral. It has beach access for those who want to enjoy some sun and sand, as well as shady picnic areas to enjoy a lunch or snack. The park overlooks the Bimini Basin, and offers a lovely scenic view. It is a great place to relax and take in the beauty of South Florida. The park also includes a recreation center which hosts a number of activities and programs to stay fit, socialize, or get involved in the community. -
Norton Museum of Art
The Norton Museum of Art is located in West Palm Beach, Florida. It holds a collection of artwork owned by the late Ralph and Elizabeth Hubbard Norton. The house and museum were founded in 1941 and was the first institution of its kind within the South Florida area. The museum includes some 8,200 works designated into five groupings: European, American, Chinese, Contemporary and Photography. It is a great place to soak up some art and culture, and the museum often hosts events and special showings new visitors and regulars can enjoy a variety or artistic delights. -
Okeeheelee Nature Center
Okeeheelee Nature center is an outdoor natural conservation center located in the West Palm Beach area. It is a beautiful expansive outdoor park that includes roughly 2.5 miles of trails and walking paths. The center includes education-based experiences including hands-on exhibits, animal encounters, and 90 acres of scenic natural landscapes. residents of Meridian at Lantana enjoyed a day trip to Okeeheelee where they learned all about the local wildlife. -
Rainbow River Boat Tours
The South Florida area has so much beautiful coastline along the ocean, as well as an intricate web of rivers and canals, making it a great place for boating. Boat tours are a lovely way to relax and take in the beauty of the Florida coastline. Our residents in Florida often enjoy boat tours as day trips, which offer a great social outing and a chance to enjoy the gorgeous scenery around our floridian communities. -
Baseball Games
If sports are more your thing, you can take in a baseball game! Many Major League Baseball teams have spring training across South Florida, or you can catch the 2020 World Series runner-ups, the Tampa Bay Rays, play one of their many games at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. -
Cape Canaveral
Cape Canaveral is located in Brevard County, Florida, just to the east of Merritt Island. It is known for being home to the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and many U.S. spacecraft have been launched from the cape, and from nearby Kennedy Space Center. Recently some of our Pacifica Senior Living residents enjoyed watching an incredible rocket launch from the cape. It is a popular activity for those in the area to enjoy a picnic on the beach and experience this incredible sight first-hand. -
Lauderdale-by-the-Sea
Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is located on the south eastern coast of the state of Florida, and is a quaint town just outside the larger city of Fort Lauderdale. The area includes a beautiful beach for relaxing and soaking up some sunshine, a large fishing pier, and a nearby lighthouse. This beachy town is a great place for a day trip to relax, unwind, and take in the peaceful atmosphere of this quiet town. -
Diners & Eateries
There are lots of great eateries, restaurants and diners in the South Florida area, including the 50s themed diner, Ellie’s in Delray Beach. This diner is a particularly great destination for seniors and older adults, as it is full of 50s nostalgia, for the decor to the music and everything in between. If you’re looking for an Oceanside dinner, Rafiki Tiki in Riviera Beach is a wonderful option. It has impressive and delicious dishes, lots of indoor and outdoor seating, and a beautiful ocean-front view. -
Josiah Cephas Weaver Park
Josiah Cephas Weaver Park is located in Dunedin, Florida. It is a beautiful oasis just outside the downtown area. It is a great place for a picnic, and has a large outdoor area to enjoy. Other notable amenities in the park include the impressive Fishing pier and Observation pier, walking and hiking trails - many of which are paved for accessibility - waterfront access, and a wildlife observation area.
