Come Home for the Holidays to Pacifica Senior Living

As we approach the end of the year, many are full of holiday cheer, merriment, and a little extra joyful spirit. It is a time that a lot of people will connect with family, loved ones, or friends. But the holidays can also be a difficult time, and can even bring up feelings of loneliness or isolation. A survey from AARP done in 2017 found that roughly 31% of adults had experienced feelings of loneliness during the holiday season.

Whether they are physically far from loved ones, have lost friends or family members, or simply feel disconnected from a world that is fast-changing around them,  socially isolated older adults are at higher risk for depression.

According to an article by Aeging Care, “The focus on family, friends and togetherness during this time of year can actually bring melancholy feelings to the forefront for many elders.” Families and children, too, may be feeling guilty about not being able to visit or spend time with parents or other beloved seniors to enjoy holiday activities

Fortunately, there is a simple way to help seniors fight these feelings of sadness and isolation. Senior living communities are vibrant, sociable communities full of fun and festivities - all year round! In community-based senior residences, there are always friends to chat with, activities to do, and events to attend.

At Pacifica Senior Living we focus on creating a lively, social atmosphere that encourages even our shiest residents to come out of their shells. We understand that the holidays can be a delicate time for many, and that a lot of older adults may have mixed feelings around the festive season.

seniors enjoy Christmas together

Whether our residents have family and friends who visit often, they are physically distant from relatives, or they perhaps have minimal kin, our team is sensitive to each residents’ situation and needs. Our communities have a true family feel where everyone and anyone can feel at home, and enjoy social interaction whenever they like.

Particular at this time of year, our communities focus on helping our residents continue holiday traditions, and enjoy holiday celebrations. Whether it is reminiscing about Christmas’ past, helping set up video calls with family, or hosting social activities, or team members and compassionate caregivers help each resident find joy in the holiday season. There is so much to do and enjoy, from candlelit dinners to festive holiday movie nights. And because community living is so social, or residents make close friends with other residents and team members, further helping to fight holiday loneliness.

From social butterflies to those who enjoy quiet company, there is something for all to love in senior living communities. It is a wonderful option for seniors who may still live in a family home or apartment, but are starting to feel isolated as they age. Our residents love being able to enjoy craft fairs, themed dinners, concerts and games nights right in the comfort of their home.

By choosing a senior living community, you are opened up to a world of possibilities, from amazing amenities to robust activity calendars, scheduled social outings, and so much more. Rather than feeling separated from it all, our residents can enjoy a sense of connection and belonging as they get to know new friends, and enjoy new experiences.

If you or your loved one is feeling a little extra lonely this season, we're here to welcome you home. There's no time like the holidays to be surrounded by new friends and family.
