Martin Luther King Day

Dec 17, 2021 3:30:00 AM / by Pacifica Senior Living

On January 17th, Pacifica Senior Living communities recognized Martin Luther King Jr. Day, in honor of the late American baptist minister and civil rights activist who changed the course of history with his activism during the 1950’s and 1960’s.

The African American Civil Rights Movement was an important chapter in United States history, during which Martin Luther King was a prominent influence swaying the nation in favor of equal rights. Today, we honor him for bringing attention to lingering inequalities in American History and celebrate his victories for the African Civil Rights Movement.

Dr. King dreamed of a nation in which people of all lineages and backgrounds could live side-by-side celebrating each other and uplifting their fellow man. Today, we at Pacifica Senior Living think the best way to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day is among our friends and family, sharing stories and making efforts to improve our communities.

We can change the world by starting at home. By treating each other with respect and kindness, we create a better society in which everyone can succeed. On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we ask our residents and their families to think about ways they can improve their community, creating a fairer and more equal world for everyone, from all walks of life.

We encourage our residents to share their stories of the African American Civil Rights era, capturing the attention of those who weren’t alive during the time. By listening to first hand accounts of the movement and Dr. King’s participation, others can get a better idea of his impact on American history.
