Happy National Activity Professionals Day

January 26th marks activity professionals day, a time when we celebrate all of our activity professionals throughout our communities. At Pacifica Senior Living we are proud to offer robust calendars of activities, events and outings tailored to the needs and preferences of our Assisted Living and Memory Care residents, and these activities would not be possible without our Activity Directors (ADs) and team members.

Our Activity Professionals are the pulse of our communities. Day in and day out they bring the smiles, energy, and fun to our communities with new and exciting things to do. They are some of the most fun loving, enthusiastic individuals, but are also able to show patience, caring, and mentorship abilities.

They are some of the most involved members of our communities, who get to know their residents on a personal level, spending time with them during various sessions and events. For many of our residents, the ADs become like extended family. We see the affection and appreciation our residents and families have for our staff members, and the love and joy our ADs bring to all that they do.

Whether it is planning, setting up and hosting a paint night, refereeing a balloon volleyball game, organizing outings and field trips, hosting happy hours, or creating modified activities perfectly suited to their Memory Care residents, each of our wonderful ADs and their teams go above and beyond each day.

From coast to coast, stand-up employees have shaped the atmosphere and culture of our communities with engaging and life enriching activities. From walking clubs to bingo games, gardening projects or holiday themed crafts, activities help enrich the lives of our residents in so many ways.

Our activity teams know the importance of having fun, and facilitating relationships and friendships between fellow residents. One of the biggest benefits of community living is the social aspect of living with other peers. These activities create an excellent social aspect which can have a variety of positive effects on mood, emotional health, and overall wellness. It is through our activities that most residents make friends and start to feel truly at home.

Activities are also more than just fun. They can also help keep brains sharp, improve memory, and promote problem solving abilities. Activities like puzzling, brain games, trivia, and cognitive based activities help keep the brain active - which is especially important for older adults.

Crafts and games can help with hand-eye coordination, and even help with arthritis and stiffness. Similarly, sports and exercise classes promote physical health, including improving heart health, mobility, balance, and overall health.

The Activity Professionals teams are what make our communities such vibrant, dynamic (and fun!) places to live, while helping to keep residents engaged, fit, and active.

We appreciate each and every one of our Activity Directors and their team members who make each day special for our residents. Thank you for all you do, and for being such shining beacons of joy and light throughout our communities.
