We are excited to announce that Pacifica Senior Living is first in line to vaccinate our residents & staff nationwide!
The wait for the COVID-19 vaccine is finally over! Beginning December 30, residents in several of our communities will start receiving the first wave of vaccinations against this disease, with the rest to follow in January and beyond.
Starting tomorrow, residents at the Meridian at Kessler Park and in the Skilled Nursing Facility at Pacifica Senior Living Skylyn will get vaccinated, with those at Pacifica Heritage Hills, Pacifica Millcreek, Pacifica Newport Mesa, Pacifica San Martin, Pacifica Rosemont, Pacifica Green Valley, Pacifica Milton and Scottsdale Village Square to receive their first round of shots shortly thereafter.
We also have dates set through the end of January and into February for several other communities, and will continue to work with local healthcare facilities to schedule vaccinations for all of our residents and team members as soon as possible. While we know that most everyone will want the vaccine quickly, we are working on a methodical vaccination plan that both ensures the long-term safety of our communities and is in accordance with both local and federal health guidelines for the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines.
We also want to put your mind at ease about the vaccine. Neither the Pfizer vaccine nor the Moderna vaccine contain any actual samples, either alive or dead, of the COVID-19 virus. These vaccines are of a new type that do not need samples of the virus to work, so you do not have to fear catching COVID-19 like you would with a flu vaccine. Additionally, the side effects are both rare and mild, with most experiencing little more than slight achiness for 48 hours after the first shot—but that is just the vaccine starting to work! We have taken every precaution to make sure that you are safe as we prepare your community for vaccination, during the process, and thereafter. As a part of the Pacifica Family, your safety is—as always—our number one priority.
Please keep an eye out for more information regarding the vaccine as we will keep you updated as we have more to share with you.
Thank you so much for weathering together the unique challenges 2020 has brought, and join us in looking forward to the brighter future 2021 is going to bring with it!
