Over the course of 100 years, Muriel has seen a lot of change. This past March, Muriel, a resident of Pacifica Senior Living Pinehurst, celebrated her 100th birthday with friends, family and loved ones.
Muriel is an active member of the community who lived an incredible life. She originally hails from Sheffield, England, where she lived out her early years being known as the spunky and daring one among her friends.

Ray and William AKA “Bill”, first met in the third grade in their hometown of Inglewood, California, and their friendship was instantaneous. Ray’s favorite childhood memory was the idyllic camping trips his family would take him and Bill on to Wrightwood Mountain.
The boys spent summers exploring the surrounding area and swimming in the lake. The duo were inseparable, and remained best friends all throughout their teen years, despite attending different high schools.

Memory and our Senses
Memory is one of the most fascinating and complicated processes that occurs within the human brain. As the world population continues to age, more and more research has been done surrounding our memory, and the ways in which we can boost memories, recall them, or delay memory loss.
Our senses are intricately linked to our sense of memory. Most of us have experienced the sensation of having a smell instantly conjure up a memory, or trigger a recollection from our past. Similarly, music and sound has been found to run deep within our psyche, and can be used to trigger memories - even in those suffering from severe memory loss or types of dementia.
