The Remarkable Journey of Ernesto Palomino

Ernesto Palomino was born on December 21, 1933, in Fresno, California, and has lived a life that has touched many. He served in the Marine Corps, holds an honorary doctorate from California State University Fresno, a master’s degree from San Francisco State University, and taught for many years at Fresno State. Now, at 89, he lives at Pacifica Senior Living Fresno, and reflects on his biggest claim to fame: his art.
Using sculpture, masks, drawings, mosaics, paintings, murals, and found objects, Palomino has left a meaningful artistic legacy.
Dream Flight: A Resident of Tampa Gardens Senior Living Flies Again

One of our residents from Tampa Gardens Senior Living recently got the chance of a lifetime - an opportunity to take to the skies again in a 1940s Blue Stearman airplane. How was this opportunity possible? With an amazing program known as Dream Flights.
Dream Flightsis a veteran-based nonprofit that was started in 2011 by founder Darryl Fisher. There are four 1940’s Boeing Stearman airplanes used by the Dream Flights team, across the United States. Flights are provided -free of charge - to military veterans and seniors living within Senior living communities.

Muriel is an active member of the community who lived an incredible life. She originally hails from Sheffield, England, where she lived out her early years being known as the spunky and daring one among her friends.

This month we take the time to celebrate the triumphs and stories of our black residents and team members, honoring their contributions to their communities and shedding light on their legacies.
So many of our residents reached out with words of wisdom, personal stories, or sentiments about Black History Month. Many of our residents impacted younger generations through their work, either as educators, government workers, role models or law enforcement officers.

January 27th is Holocaust Remembrance Day. As we reflect on this tragic event, we honor the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust, and the millions of others affected by the Nazi regime. We also want to take the time to celebrate the amazing lives of survivors, heroes and descendants of those who lived through these trying times. This date was chosen by the United Nations as it commemorates the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month which marks an annual campaign aimed at raising awareness about the impact of breast cancer. One of the major goals of this awareness month is ensuring all women have access to mammograms and breast cancer screenings which can lead to early detection, as well as ensuring everyone has access to support systems.
