Happy 4th of July! This Independence Day we celebrate all things America and enjoy being in one another’s company. Fourth of July is a time for fun, games, good food, and even better company. This weekend, many local neighborhoods and towns will hold Independence Day parades, fireworks shows, or revolutionary war reenactments all of which celebrate the American revolution that gave American colonies independence from Great Britain, our founding fathers, and the creation of the declaration of Independence.
Fathers and father figures are often pillars of wisdom, knowledge and advice in our lives. As we gear up to celebrate father’s day in our communities, we asked our residents to share what fatherhood means to them, or what their relationship with their father taught them. Here are just some of the heart warming and inspiring stories from across our communities.
“Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices.”
- Harry S. Truman
For many of us, Memorial Day is the holiday that we think of as the official start of summer, and we celebrate with barbecues, garden parties, backyard bashes, or trips to the beach. However, we recognize that there is much more to this holiday than picnics and potato salad.
My own mother was a saint in my eyes. She sacrificed, she served, and she loved unconditionally. For me and my family, she was the heart beat of the home and the center of it all. Mothers are often seen as a unifying pulse in the family and are thought to be one of the most powerful role models in our lives, capable of immense kinds of love and protection. One can hardly imagine the level of sacrifice a mother is possible of making in a time of need.
May 6th marks National Nurses Day 2022, and the start of National Nurses Week. At Pacifica Senior Living, our nurses are the heartbeat of our communities, and essential to ensuring the very best care and wellbeing of our residents. We greatly appreciate all that our nurses do across our many communities, and the dedication and hard work they put in each and every day.
We asked our nurses to share with you some of the best things about being part of the Pacifica family, and how their lives have been impacted by the amazing residents they care for. Here is what they had to say:
Happy Cinco de Mayo! On May fifth, Mexican and Hispanic people across the United States celebrate their heritage and culture.
Earth Day is a time to reflect on and appreciate our amazing planet. It is a time to celebrate and a chance to evaluate the way in which we are treating our environment. At Pacifica Senior Living, we are committed to choosing eco-friendly options, sustainable power sources, and moving towards a greener, brighter future for our communities and our company as a whole.
Over the last few years, we have embarked on a green initiative that has seen many of our communities turning to more eco-friendly options in a variety of ways. It is something that we are always conscious of and trying to improve on as we continue to grow.
As flowers start to bloom in all their glory around our many campuses, we look forward to Spring and the joy of Easter.
Easter is a time to celebrate a new season, and exciting new beginnings. At this time of year, we are reminded that we have been given a unique opportunity to reach out to those in need of compassion, care and love within our communities and beyond.
At Pacifica we understand the importance of keeping active - both physically and mentally - as you age. That is why hosting events, activities and interactive recreational programs is a key part of our community programs.
March is here, and it’s time for us to ‘Spring Forward’ with our clocks as we welcome Daylight Saving Time. We're looking forward to Day Light Savings at Pacifica Senior Living, as it offers more time for us to spend outdoors enjoying warm, sunny weather. This small holiday marks the end of winter and the beginning of warmer days to come, a welcome sight for the many of us who look forward to spring and summer each year.
